COUNTDOWN TO ZERO presents Heinz Mack and Otto Piene, separately from each other: two human beings, one a little bit older than the other, who grew up in different surroundings, but came together at the Düsseldorf Art Academy a few years after the end of WWII. Two young artists, with questions and ideals about life. Without making conclusions, the book let's the two artists speak (Mack in a lively monologue, Piene posthumous through past conversations) about how their group ZERO came into being.
