Between 1996 and 2007 photographer Toon Michiels much inspired by Cees Nooteboom’s fascinating travel book De Omweg naar Santiago travels more than eleven times up and down between ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands and Santiago de Compostela in Spain. On these journeys, sometimes on his bike, but mostly by car (with always a bike in the back), Michiels and his camera artfully prowl beneath the veneer of today’s hustle and bustle.
Artificial leather over boards, illustrated dustjacket (hardcover), cloth-covered clamshell box (24x35cm), 191 pp. with photographic plates in color and black&white. Including 2 signed and Roman numbered (VI/X) cibachrome’s on dibond.
